ACCOMMODATION

Booking procedure
1. A deposit of 20% of the total rental cost of the accommodation/ or package must be made at the time of booking.

2. Bookings made within 31 days of the arrival date at the accommodation must be paid in full at the time of booking

3. All bookings remain provisional until payment has been received in cleared funds. Unless payment has been made within one week of making the provisional booking (unless alternative arrangements have been made), the provisional booking will be treated as cancelled.

4. Once the provisional booking has been accepted and all payments then due have been made, we will send you confirmation by email that the booking is confirmed. Please contact us immediately if any information which appears on the booking confirmation is incorrect or incomplete.

5. The balance of the rental cost must be paid 31days prior to your date of arrival at the accommodation. Failure to comply with our payment terms may lead to the booking being treated as cancelled whereupon our standard cancellation terms will apply

Prices and payment
1. Accommodation only prices include (where applicable) VAT, cleaning on departure, bed linen and towels, electricity, gas, water and central heating. Please refer to the accommodation description for any additional charges. Cot linen & daily housekeeping are not included.

2. Payments can be made in UK sterling by credit card (Mastercard or Visa only) PayPal or bank transfer. Thirlestane Castle cannot accept liability for any charges for overseas bank transfers or other payments.

3. Our booking system is PCI compliant and protected by Secured Socket Layer encryption.

Cancellation of a booking
1. Cancellation by you of your booking must be given in writing.

2. We are not able to offer deposit refunds, however, we may be able to offer deposit transfers to new dates. If this is the case, you may be allowed flexibility to move the booking to alternative available dates within 12 months of the start date of your planned stay. There will be no additional charges, but if there is a difference in price (e.g. you move from an off-peak booking time to a peak booking time) the difference will be payable by you.

3. If you fail to pay your balance 31 days prior to your booking start date, and you haven’t got in touch with us to discuss the situation, the deposit may be deemed to be forfeited by us and the booking cancelled

4. Cancellation 31 days or less incurs full cancellation charges.

5. Whether travelling from abroad or within the UK, we always recommend to our guests to take out          holiday insurance.

GUIDED TOURS & AFTERNOON TEAS

If you need to cancel your guided tour booking or your afternoon tea booking then please call or email the castle office.
Cancellations received 48+ hours in advance of booking time will receive a full refund.

*Group tours have a separate cancellation policy. Please email enquiries@thirlestanecastle.co.uk.

GIFT AID ANNUAL PASSES

  • Valid for 12 months from date of issue
  • Not valid on special event days
  • Only valid on days and times the castle is open to visitors
  • Must be shown on subsequent visits to gain entry
  • Non-transferrable. Only to be used by person named on the card
  • Discounts cannot be used when getting an annual pass.
