Thirlestane Castle hosted one of the largest ever one-day incentives in Scotland on Sunday 5th August 2018.

We welcomed 1,350 people from a US firm for a memorable day where they participated in Highland Games, watched Scottish themed displays, took part in bagpipe and ceilidh dancing workshops, browsed local crafts, went on tours of the castle and enjoyed a high end buffet lunch.

Spectra DMC, the UK’s top destination management company, wanted to host a day away from the city of Edinburgh showcasing ‘Traditional Scotland’ for the group of Americans who were on an incentive trip to the UK and Ireland.

The grounds of Thirlestane Castle were large enough to accommodate outdoor seating for all attending guests. We also provided adequate air-cooled, indoor areas such as the vaulted cellars for everyone in case of wet weather or uncomfortably high summer temperatures.

The spacious castle forecourt afforded ample parking for the fleet of buses that brought the guests to Thirlestane.

The extensive parkland to the front of the castle was where guests could watch demonstrations of Highland Sports, chainsaw carving and Highland Dancing. There was also a children’s area offering face-painting and story-telling to younger guests.

The site was able to accommodate a wide variety of food and drinks stalls serving a mix of American and Scottish inspired dishes, snacks, and hot and cold drinks.

Free-flow tours of the castle were available with our guides on hand to answer questions and help visitors get the most out of their visit.

A final beating retreat from the pipe band signalled the end of the event.
