We are delighted to launch a series of Afternoon Tea experiences which will be available to enjoy at Thirlestane on set days throughout the Spring and Summer.
The afternoon tea will either take place in the Victorian kitchen, with its original 19th-century range oven, or the Castle’s atmospheric ‘old servants’ tearoom, depending on numbers. We have teamed up with our local award-winning Lauder bakery, Firebrick Brasserie, to offer this delicious Afternoon Tea experience. The menu consists of a selection of finger sandwiches made using homemade bread and locally sourced ingredients for the fillings, and a selection of mouthwatering sweet treats.
The decadent treat can be enjoyed as a stand-alone memorable experience, or you can also choose to join our castle tours before or after. Our experienced guides will dive into Thirlestane Castle’s 16th-century, where you will discover fascinating Scottish history, magnificent plasterwork ceilings and spectacular paintings of several generations of the Maitland Clan.
Our afternoon teas and tours are available on: Sunday the 28th of May, Saturday the 24th of June, Sunday the 23rd of July, Sunday the 27th of August and Sunday the 17th of September.
