We are delighted to offer our series of Afternoon Tea & Tour experiences again in 2024, which will be available to enjoy at Thirlestane on set days throughout the Spring and Summer.
Included in the experience is an exploration of Thirlestane with one of our exceptional guides. The Castle is brought to life through incredible stories about the Castle’s history and the key role the Maitland family have held in Scotland over four centuries. Discover fascinating collections and connections to famous historic figures, including the connection to Bonnie Prince Charlie and Mary Queen of Scots.
The afternoon tea will either take place in the Victorian Kitchen, with its original 19th-century range oven, or the Castle’s, ‘old servants’ tearoom, depending on numbers. We have teamed up with our local award-winning Lauder bakery, Firebrick Brasserie, to offer this delicious Afternoon Tea experience. The menu consists of a selection of finger sandwiches made using homemade bread and locally sourced ingredients for the fillings, scones and clotted cream, and a selection of mouthwatering sweet treats.
Please make sure you check the timings of your tea and tour as these vary throughout the season.
