Katie and Sean celebrated their wedding over a glorious July weekend in 2022. Their closest friends and family joined them at Thirlestane Castle for an unforgettable gathering to mark their union.

On their day of arrival, the guests settled into their castle suites and added the finishing touches to the wedding spaces. Once everything was just right, the wedding party joined Katie & Sean for a rehearsal followed by a relaxed supper in a local restaurant.

The following morning, guests awoke to a delicious brunch in their suites while preparations began for the ceremony. The bridal party enjoyed a chilled glass of fizz while the make-up and hair stylists got to work, meanwhile the groomsmen shared a dram of whisky to keep the nerves at bay.

Katie and Sean chose to make their vows in the State Drawing Room with its magnificent plasterwork ceilings. After the ceremony, the guests showered the new Mr & Mrs with gorgeous confetti as they walked down the castle steps.

The sun shone brightly on this balmy summer’s day, perfect for a drink’s reception on the terrace while a string quartet played softly in the background. Later, guests returned to the Drawing Room for a delicious wedding breakfast, finding it transformed with an array of gorgeous posies and flickering candles.

As the night drew in, the wedding party moved to the castle Courtyard which was covered with a clear span marquee and thousands of delicate fairy lights, ready for guests to dance the night away under the stars. The atmosphere was incredible with a whisky bar located in the Vaulted Cellar, a tasty pizza van and cosy fire pits in front of the castle.

The day was incredibly memorable, but don’t just take our word for it…

“We loved that Thirlestane was a more personal experience. We liked that Thirlestane didn’t have a wedding every weekend, and that we could really personalise our day rather than choosing this or that from a list. We also loved the accommodation at the castle, and the experience of having our close friends/family at the apartments to celebrate over a few days rather than rushing in and out in one night.”

“We absolutely loved working with Monica and Jac throughout the planning process. It really felt from the beginning like nothing was too much trouble, and that continued on to the week itself with other staff (especially Martin, who was fab!). It felt really comforting to know that we were supported by a great team who seemed to have a real interest in making our day perfect. Everyone spoke so highly of the venue and the event, and that’s in no small part to the team at Thirlestane who pulled it all together.” – Katie & Sean
