An intimate celebration set against a romantic backdrop

On Thursday 13th August 2020 Thirlestane Castle provided the venue for an intimate elopement ceremony between Ilya and Kamilla, a young couple from Russia.

Kamilla dreamed of a Scottish castle wedding. She explained how Thirlestane Castle met her expectations. “I immediately fell in love with the castle’s interior and grounds. It was perfect for our planned photoshoot.”

Unfortunately, the planning process was burdened by the coronavirus. Kamilla said, “We had to reschedule the wedding from May to August. However, with support from the team this was a smooth process.”

The happy couple were finally able to say their vows with us in August 2020. The celebrant performed a humanist handfasting ceremony outdoors beneath an ancient tree in the castle’s former rose garden. Then they took a private tour of the castle before enjoying dinner together in their luxury 5 star apartment.

The stunning grounds and splendid interior of the castle were the perfect backdrop for

photographer Bernadeta Kuipiec to capture Kamilla and Ilya’s first moments as a married couple.

The combination of the beautiful natural outdoors of the rose garden and parkland, the fairytale castle, and splendid indoor spaces helped Kamilla realise her dream of a Scottish castle wedding and the couple had the perfect start to their happily ever after.
