Guided Rides For Equine Enthusiasts

Designed for experienced riders only, these guided rides will lead you through some of the most spectacular countryside in the Scottish Borders – Scotlands Horse Country – from the ancient estate at Thirlestane Castle to the wild moorlands.

You will follow in the footsteps of the Lauder Common Riding – one of the oldest equestrian festivals in the world. This ancient route has been ridden since the 16th Century where residents patrolled the boundaries of their settlement on horse back, defending against fearsome marauders.

As you rise into the moors you will enjoy incredible views back over to the picturesque town of Lauder and Thirlestane Castle.

Horses

The horses are a mixture of Draft Horses, Irish Cobs, Irish Sport Horses and Connemaras.

Ride leaders and horses are supplied by our experienced riding partners based locally in the
Scottish Borders. Upon booking, you will be contacted to find out your measurements and level of ability, helping them to find your perfect mount.
