In September 2021, Gracie & Daniel had their spectacular wedding at Thirlestane Castle.

This delightful couple made their wedding into a three day event and took full advantage of all that Thirlestane has to offer. The combination of creative use of the spaces and attention to detail – from decorations and lighting to music and food – made this wedding extra special.

The multi day celebration began with an action packed day of activities including falconry on the front lawn and a private guided tour of the castle. In the evening, the guests enjoyed a soiree in the cobbled courtyard with live music, beer van and gorgeous festoon lighting. It was wonderful to see the guests have a chance to relax and get to know each other before the big day.

The following morning, the wedding party woke up in the Castle suites and began preparations for the big day. Gracie & Daniel chose the entrance to the castle as their wedding ceremony location. The stunning views over the expansive parkland provided a dramatic setting for making their vows.

The beauty of the castle was enhanced by the gorgeous arrangement of fresh flowers throughout including up the castle steps and in the state rooms.

The State Drawing Room with its magnificent 17th Century Dunsterfield plaster ceilings provided the ideal space for the wedding breakfast and the gazebo in the rose garden allowed guests a more informal area to mingle.

In the evening the festively lit marquee in the cobbled courtyard became a swinging dancefloor. While the band played, guests danced the night away. Those who wanted to could retreat with a drink from the boot room bar and relax in the candle lit vaulted cellar with its comfy sofas and  cosy log burner.

This wedding was a perfect partnership between the venue and the happy couple. The versatility of our spaces meant that Thirlestane offered a blank canvas to bring their wedding vision to life.
