Summer of Events Continues at Thirlestane
With summer now in full swing, we are looking forward to some more special events at Thirlestane Castle.
The first is a welcome return from Chapterhouse Theatre Company who are back at the castle for another year with one of their superb open-air performances. This time the cast will be sharing their production of A Midsummer Night's Dream on Sunday 1st July. The Shakespeare classic will be performed on the castle's front lawn with the beautiful castle facade as a fitting backdrop.
Let yourself be whisked away on a thrilling journey to the most magical of forests and meet star-crossed lovers, playful fairies and hilarious travelling players. Beautifully designed Elizabethan costumes, a wonderful musical score and enchanting woodland creatures come together to make this an evening of unmissable summer garden theatre.
Picnic with family and friends in the picturesque surroundings of Thirlestane Castle for the perfect evening of magical theatre in magical surroundings. More details can be found on our events pages.
If a more dramatic event is more to your liking then come to Thirlestane on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th July when we will be turning back time with a Civil War Re-Enactment Weekend. The UK's oldest re-enactment group, The Sealed Knot, will be setting up camp in the castle grounds and recreating what life was like for soldiers and their families during the 1600s.
You will have the opportunity to walk around an authentic army camp watching meals cooked over open fires and even trying on some of the soldier's armour. Throughout both days musket drills and canon firing will create some noisy entertainment for all ages. More details of this event can also be found on our events pages.
Advance tickets for both events can be purchased from www.borderevents.com.
