BVAC Classic - Festival of Motoring

The BVAC Classic - Festival of Motoring is a celebration of all things motoring and one of the biggest events at Thirlestane Castle.

Over 1200 vintage and classic vehicles gathered here on Sunday 2nd June, for one of the largest car shows in the country.

This year, the show centred on the 60th birthday of the Mini with a series of Mini-themed events throughout the day. We tried to see how many people we could fit in a Mini, we raffled off a special refurbished Classic Mini Cooper in aid of My Name'5 Doddie and there was even an appearance by the famous Mini owner Mr Bean!

As will as the Mini there were also celebrations for a number of other vehicles including the Jaguar Mk.2, Triumph Herald and Ford Capri. Vehicles from all eras were on display in the castle parkland, lovingly prepared by their owners in the hope of winning one of the day's prizes. The Sporting Bears were also on hand for visitors to enjoy a ride in the car of their dreams by simply making a donation to charity.

New this year was the Taste of the Borders food village which proved to be a big hit with visitors.

Join us on the 7th June 2020 for next years BVAC Classic - Festival of Motoring, the planning starts now!
